Custom Shipping Rates

This article show how to add a custom shipping rate tables based on weight or order total.

Enable Custom Rate Shipping

  1. Access the Shipping page.
  2. Click into the Custom Rates section.
  3. Toggle on the Enable custom shipping rate option.

Add a Custom Rate

  1. Select either Flat Rate to charge shipping based on the order total or Weight-based Rate to charge shipping based on the order weight.
  2. Click New Sub Option to add a new rate.
  3. Name - Enter the name of the rate. 
  4. Friendly Name - This is the name the shopper will see on the checkout page.
  5. Price Modifier Type - Select $ to charge a flat rate dollar amount or % to charge shipping based on a percentage of the order total. 
  6. Save - Click to submit changes.

Add a Shipping Rate Table

After the shipping method has been created, ranges and rates for that method will need to be added. 

  1. Click the pencil (edit) button for the rate to be configured.
  2. Click into the Fields section.
  3. Click the New Field button.
  4. Order Total Start or Starting Weight  - If Flat Rate was selected when adding the method, enter the Order Total Start amount for the rate. If Weight-Based was selected when adding the method enter the starting weight of the range for this rate. Click directly on the amount under in the columns to open an editable box. Once the amount has been entered, click outside the box to save it.
  5. Order Total End or Ending Weight - Enter the ending order total or ending weight for this range.
  6. Amount - Enter the amount to be charged for this shipping range. 
    • In the example above, Flat Rate was selected when adding this shipping method. The shopper will get free shipping on orders up to $100.00 and will pay $5.00 on orders from $100.01 to $200.00
  7. Save - Click to save changes.
  • Duplicate steps 3-6 to add several ranges. 

Import Custom Rate Table

This tool allows you to import Custom Shipping Rate tables from another store in your organization. This tool is ONLY available to organization admins and will not appear for a user logged in as a store level admin user. To Import Custom Rates from another store in your organization:

  1. After going into Shipping and Custom Rates, click the button for Import Custom Rate.
  2. Choose the Source store where you're importing the rate from.
  3. Choose the Custom Rate name that you're importing
  4. Click Import when finished.

This will then import that Shipping Custom Rate Table into your store.

Duplicate Custom Rate Table

To duplicate a Custom Shipping Rate Table:

  1. After logging into the store's admin area, click into Shipping, then click Custom Rates.
  2. Next, locate the custom rate table in your list that needs to be duplicated.
  3. Click the duplicate button duplicate_icon.png.
  4. Then click Duplicate in the pop-up/dialog window.
  5. You will see a green banner notification once the custom rate table has been duplicated.

Quick Tip: $0/Free Shipping Setup

If your shoppers are receiving an error that there isn't a shipping method available, this is because a Shipping Rate Table needs to be created or modified to accommodate the order. The following setups briefly detail how to make sure shoppers aren't being charged for shipping.

Shipping Rate Table for Free Shipping on all orders placed (Flat-Rate)
Order Total Start: $0.00
Order Total End: Maximum order total possible (ex. $9,999.99)
Amount: $0.00

Shipping Rate Table for Free Shipping on orders above a pre-determined value (Flat-Rate)
Order Total Start: $0.00
Order Total End: Minimum pre-determined value (free shipping for orders over $150, so this would be $149.99)
Amount: Non-zero-sum
Order Total Start: Minimum pre-determined value (free shipping for orders over $150)
Order Total End: Maximum order total possible (ex. $9,999.99)
Amount: $0.00

Shipping Rate Table for Free Shipping on all orders placed (Weight-based Rate)
Starting Weight: 0.0
Ending Weight: Maximum weight possible (ex. 9,999.99)
Amount: $0.00

Shipping Rate Table for Free Shipping on orders above a pre-determined weight (Weight-based Rate)
Starting Weight: 0.0
Ending Weight: Minimum pre-determined value (free shipping for orders over 150 lbs, so this would be 149.99 lbs)
Amount: Non-zero-sum
Starting Weight: Minimum pre-determined weight (free shipping for orders over 150 lbs)
Ending Weight: Maximum weight possible (ex. 9,999.99)
Amount: $0.00
