Set Up an Account with FedEx
In order to calculate shipping rates through FedEx you need to setup a FedEx account if you do not already have one by visiting https://www.fedex.com/register/contact.
- Contact Information will have the necessary data for entering in fields 5-12 below.
- Accounts & Payments will have the full Account Number necessary for entering in field 3 below.
Enter the Account Information into the Shipping Setup
Add the FedEx credentials to the Shipping configuration.
- Select the Shipping tab to pull out the sub-sections.
- Click into the FedEx section.
- Enter your FedEx Account number.
- Enter your SmartPost Hub ID (if you have one, this portion of the integration isn't required)
- If you have any questions about setting this account up, or general questions about the FedEx account and how they use the SmartPost Hub ID, please reach out to their support team.
- Enter the First Name listed on your FedEx account.
- Enter the Last Name listed on your FedEx account.
- Enter the Phone Number (including the Country Code) listed on your FedEx account.
- Enter the Street Address (including the second address line separated by a comma) listed on your FedEx account. Keep in mind the format of your address, ex: "Street" vs "St", "Suite 100" vs "Ste 100", and any extra spaces or lack thereof.
- Enter the City listed on your FedEx account.
- Enter the State listed on your FedEx account (ex: Texas would need to be entered as TX).
- Enter the ZIP Code listed on your FedEx account.
- Enter the Country listed on your FedEx account.
- Select Continue.
Complete FedEx Account Verification
After entering the above information, you'll go through prompts for receiving a verification code, or fields for Invoice entry. If you do not complete this portion of the process without entering the verification code, you'll need to go back and re-enter all information from the previous section before you can proceed to verification.
- Email delivery: Delivers a 6 digit verification code to the email address listed on the FedEx account.
- SMS delivery: Delivers a 6 digit verification code via SMS text to the phone number listed on the FedEx account.
- Phone call delivery: Delivers a 6 digit verification code via phone call to the phone number listed on the FedEx account.
- Invoice verification: Requires input of four fields from a FedEx Invoice for the associated account for verification.
Once you have one of these four methods selected, the next step will change depending on your choice. If you selected Email, SMS, or Phone call, you'll then select Continue to generate the code delivery.
These verification codes deliver to the Contact Information that was previously input; in the case of Email specifically, this goes to the primary email address associated with the FedEx account. These verification codes expire after 30 minutes, so you may need to request a new one if it's been more than 30 minutes since you requested the code, and need to re-start the verification process.
- PIN: This is where you'll enter the 6 digit verification code that was delivered to you.
- Resend Code: This will send a new code to the same delivery method and invalidate the previous code sent.
- Verify: This is what you'll select after entering the PIN.
If you choose Invoice Verification, this will need to be from a FedEx Invoice that is less than 90 days old. For Invoice verification, you'll need the the following information:
- Invoice Number
- Invoice Date (entered in this format YYY-MM-DD)
- Invoice Amount (without the currency symbol, just the numerical value with decimals included)
- Invoice Currency (This is USD, CAD, or your associate three letter currency type)
Once you have verified your information, select your service levels to offer at checkout, and set a shipping modifier if you require. Then save your changes and FedEx is now connected. We recommend enabling both FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery to ensure shoppers using corporate/business or residential shipping addresses see FedEx options at checkout (business addresses only see FedEx Ground, and residential addresses only see FedEx Home Delivery).
*Note: This is how a successful connection should look once completed.
Add Weights and Dimensions to Products
When using integrated rates, all products must have a shipping weight and dimensions entered.
- Access the Product page and click the pencil (edit) icon for the product you want to modify.
- Click into the Setup section.
- Click into the Shipping tab.**
- **If you're seeing the red bubble and exclamation mark error flagged "Shipping dimensions are required for shipping estimation at checkout" on the Shipping tab, this is due to missing information for the Shipping Weight, Shipping Length, Shipping Width, or Shipping Height. These are required for the Company Stores platform to communicate proper dimensions to all integrated shipping rate estimate providers for returning accurate values.
- Enter the Shipping Weight and Shipping Dimensions for this product.
- Shipping Modifier - This is an options field and will add a shipping amount each time this product is ordered.
- If required, set the Custom Origin Address for the item, or keep this set as Default Shipping Origin Address.
- Click to Save changes.
