This article walks through adding Gift Certificates. A shopper can redeem a gift certificate code, which will add funds to the user's account and can be used to pay for orders.

Activate the Gift Certificate Feature
- Access the Features page.
- Click into the Features section.
- Gift Certificates - Toggle On. Click Close or Set Up Now to continue.
Manually Add a Gift Certificate
Gift certificates can be added individually or in bulk. This section goes over adding them individually.
- Access the Coupons & Gift Certs page
- Click into the Gift Certificates section.
- Click New Gift Certificate.
Enter the Gift Certificate Details
- Certificate ID - Enter the code you wish to use or click Generate Code to have the system generate a random code. Gift Certificates have a limit of 50 characters, are not case sensitive and no special characters are allowed.
- Expiration Date - The date the gift certificate expires. Please note, the gift certificate will expire at 12:01 am Mountain Time on the expiration date.
- Value - Amount of the gift certificate.
- Note - Used for Administrators to make a note on why the gift certificate has been added.
- Save - Click to submit changes.
Add Gift Certificates in Bulk
A spreadsheet can be used to add multiple gift certificates at once.
Download Gift Certificate Template
- Access the Coupons & Gift Certs page
- Click into the Gift Certificates section.
- Click Upload Gift Certificates.
- Click Download Template and the template will be downloaded to your system.
Complete Template
Enter the following values into the template. Columns with an asterisk are required.
- Certificate ID * - Enter the code you wish to use. Gift Certificates have a limit of 50 characters, are not case sensitive and no special characters are allowed
- Expiration Date (mm/dd/yyyy) - The date the gift certificate expires. Please note, the gift certificate will expire at 12:01 am Mountain Time on the expiration date.
- Value * - Amount of the gift certificate.
- Note - Used for Administrators to make a note on why the gift certificate has been added.
- Save the file in a csv format.
Upload the Template to Add Codes
- Drag and Drop or click the box to upload the updated csv file.
- Click the Upload button to start the upload process.
- You will receive an email letting you know the process is complete and if there are any errors.
Manage Existing Gift Certificates
The Gift Certificate page allows you to review and manage existing gift certificates.
- Filters - Click the Filters option to choose the gift certificates to view.
- Certificate ID - The gift certificate code.
- Created - The date the gift certificate was created.
- Redeemed On - The date the gift certificate was redeemed by the user.
- Expires - The date the gift certificate is set to expire.
- Used By - The name of the user that redeemed the gift certificate.
- Purchased By - The name of the user that purchased a Gift Certificate for another user. Click here for more information Gift Certificate Products.
- GC Info - The information regarding the recipient of a gift certificate when purchased by another user on the store front. The information that is displayed depends on how the Gift Certificate Product is configured but may include information such as first name, last name, email address and the message.
- Note - The text for a note entered by an Administrator when the gift certificate was added.
- Value - The value of the gift certificate.
- Used - Displays if the gift certificate was redeemed or not.
- Active - Displays if a gift certificate is active or not. Administrators can manually activate/inactivate a gift certificate. They are also automatically inactivated when used or expired (and cannot be re-activate in this case).
- Actions - Available actions are to edit or delete the gift certificate, individually.
- Export Gift Certificates - Once clicked, a report of all gift certificate, including the above-mentioned detail, will be downloaded.
Mass Update Gift Certificates
Use this feature to bulk activate, de-activate or delete gift certificates.
- Click the checkbox next to Certificate ID to select all gift certificates on this page.
- Or click each gift certificate individually by checking the box next to it. Once a box is select, the following options will appear.
- Activate - To activate the checked gift certificates.
- De-Activate - To de-activate the checked gift certificates.
- Delete - To delete the checked gift certificates.
Store Front Examples
A shopper must be logged in to add funds from a gift certificate to their account. A gift certificate can be redeemed at checkout or can be added to their user account beforehand.
Example of Gift Certificate at Checkout
- Gift Certificate - The shopper can redeem a gift certificate by entering the code here and clicking apply.
- You have $xx in your balance - Once a gift certificate has been applied, the funds are loaded to their user account and displayed here.
- Use my account balance - The shopper will click this box to apply their account balance to this order.
Example of Gift Certificate on User's Account
A user can redeem a gift certificate and check their account balance within their user account, under the Account Balance section.
- Account Balance Display - A user can see their Account Balance at any time, from any page on the store front.
- Current Balance - A user can also check the Account Balance page for their Current Balance.
- Active Gift Certificate - A user can redeem a Gift Certificate from the Account Balance page.
Notes
- Users must be logged in to redeem a gift certificate.
- Codes can be added to the user’s account in their account dashboard or redeemed at checkout.
- Once redeemed, gift certificate funds are loaded as a balance and remain on the user’s account. For example, if the user has a $100 balance and only uses $75 towards an order, the remaining $25 stays on their account for use in the future.
- Expiration date is the last date a Gift Certificate can be redeemed.
- Once redeemed, the funds on the user’s account never expire.
- Administrators have no way to control what is purchased with a gift certificate, or when.
