This Bright Sites tutorial will show you how to set up the Micro Store feature, which emulates permission, as if a shopper is logged into the store front, without actually logging in. With the Micro Store add-on enabled, a passcode field is displayed in the header area of the store and when a shopper enters a group passcode, they will have access to the pages, categories, payment methods and shipping methods assigned to that group in Permissions Management.
Micro Stores works in conjunction with the following features. Please be familiar with or set up the following prior to setting up a Micro Store.
- Group Passcodes must be enabled for Micro Stores to be enabled.
- User Groups
- Permissions Management

Micro Stores Example
In the example below, Permissions have been configured to give the Public group access to all categories except "Rewards" and the Managers group has access to all categories including the "Rewards" category.
Once the shopper enters their passcode they will see a message "Group passcode was successfully applied" and they will see the categories/pages/payment options associated with that side of your store.
In this image, the user entered the passcode for the Public group, which does not have access to the "Rewards" category.
In this image, the user entered the passcode for the Managers group, which does have access to the "Rewards" category.
When the shopper is ready to checkout, depending on your store configuration, they may be able to either login with an existing username/password, checkout as a guest, or create their own account.
Please note that if a user already exist in your store and you have assigned their user name to a user group that can see certain categories/payment methods, and they enter a group passcode that belongs to a group they are not setup under currently, they will then see categories/payments/pages associated with the group their entered the passcode for during that order session.
Once the order is placed and the user logs out they would need to go back and re-enter a group passcode to see other items associated with the passcode they enter.
If you need the ability to "clear a micro-store" shopping session added to your storefront please fill out this form to request that change.
