SMS Notifications

This tutorial will go over how to configure your store to generate SMS Notifications. With this activated, the store can then generate SMS/Text messages for order confirmation emails, MOAS Approvals, and shipping confirmation emails.  Keep in mind that carrier charges may apply for SMS notifications and this feature is for US numbers only. Additionally, fees are incurred per SMS message generated in a store. For information on this pricing, please contact our Sales team.

Activate the SMS Notifications Feature

Start by activating the toggle for SMS Notifications. 

  1. Access the Features section.
  2. Click into the Add-Ons section.
  3. For the Sms Notifications option, toggle the Active button to on. Click Approve if you agree to an additional monthly support fee.

User Level Order Confirmations & Shipping Confirmations via SMS

With user level SMS notifications configured, Order and Shipping Confirmation emails will be generated via SMS.  

  1. Access the Users & Groups section.
  2. Click the Users section.
  3. Click the pencil (edit) icon for the user you want to set up. (Not pictured here).
  4. Click the User Info tab.
  5. For the SMS Notifications option, toggle the Active button to on.
  6. Phone - Enter the phone number for this user, so they can get an SMS confirmation for their order.  
  7. Click Save to submit the changes. 

If you have an updated theme, the shopper can also make this adjustment on the storefront under their Account Settings.

User Level MOAS via SMS

With user level MOAS configured, approvals will be sent via SMS instead of or in addition to MOAS Approval emails, for the individual user.

  1. Access the Users & Groups section.
  2. Click the Users section.
  3. Click the pencil (edit) icon for the user you want to set up. (Not pictured here).
  4. Click the MOAS tab.
  5. Activation Amount - Enter a MOAS activation amount, if needed. 
  6. Approval Email - Click the + (plus sign) to add an approval email. 
  7. Click the + (plus sign) next to the Phone (SMS) field to add a new phone number.
  8. Phone - Enter the phone number for this user's MOAS approver and the approver will receive the Approval Email to their phone.
  9.  Click Save to submit the changes. 

Group Level MOAS via SMS

With group level MOAS configured, approvals will be sent via SMS instead of, or in addition to, MOAS Approval emails, for all users in this group.

  1. Access the Users & Groups section.
  2. Click the Groups section.
  3. Click the pencil (edit) icon for the group you want to set up. (Not pictured here).
  4. Click the Group tab.
  5. Activation Amount - Enter a MOAS activation amount, if needed. 
  6. Approval Email - Click the + (plus sign) to add an approval email. 
  7. Click the + (plus sign) next to the Phone (SMS) field to add a new phone number.
  8. Phone - Enter the phone number for this group's MOAS approver and the approver will receive the Approval Email to their phone.
  9.  Click Save to submit the changes. 

Budget Level MOAS via SMS

With budget level MOAS configured, approvals will be sent via SMS instead of, or in addition to, MOAS Approval emails, when orders are placed against budgets.

  1. Access the Settings section.
  2. Click the Budgets section.
  3. Click the pencil (edit) icon for the budget you want to set up. (Not pictured here).
  4. Click the MOAS tab.
  5. MOAS Activation Amount - Enter a MOAS activation amount, if needed. 
  6. Approval Email - Click the + (plus sign) to add an approval email. 
  7. Click the + (plus sign) next to the Phone (SMS) field to add a new phone number.
  8. Phone - Enter the phone number for this budget's MOAS approver and the approver will receive the Approval Email to their phone.
  9.  Click Save to save the changes. 

Order Confirmations via SMS for Other Users

Users other than the shopper can receive a copy of the Order Confirmation Email via SMS.  

  1. Access the Settings section.
  2. Click the Notification Options section.
  3. Click the pencil (edit) icon for the budget you want to set up. (Not pictured here).
  4. Click the MOAS tab.
  5. Order confirmation on SMS Numbers - Enter the phone number for the user that should receive a copy of the Order Confirmation Email via SMS.
  6.  Click Save to save the changes. 

Tips & Tricks

  • Depending on how you have SMS notifications configured, some users may receive more than 1 text message (e.g. having a MOAS approver for a shopper who is also notified when an order is placed).
  • Resending an order confirmation email, or shipping confirmation email will also re-generate the SMS messages.
  • At this point, billing and shipping phone numbers CANNOT be texted a copy of the order information nor the shipping information.
  • Guest Users cannot receive SMS texts with their order or shipping confirmation at this time.
  • Messaging appearing can be customized . You will need to submit this form for assistance and extra charges for these customizations may apply.
  • This feature only works with US Mobile numbers.
