This tutorial will go over setting up the Stripe Connect gateway for your organization and/or Simple Store payment settings. The Stripe (Legacy) gateway will be phased out over the next several months. If you are setting up a new store it must use Stripe Connect. If you need help with the Stripe (Legacy) integration please reach out to the support team by submitting a ticket here.
The Stripe Connect gateway takes you through the process of either signing up for a new account with Stripe, or logging in and connecting your existing Stripe account to a store.
Please note, IF you are using the MOAS functionality on your store, orders paid for with credit card while Stripe Connect is in use WILL go through the MOAS approval process. The order will need to approved (or denied) within Stripe's transaction hold time period because of they drop the transaction (after the time has elapsed) you won't be able to approve the order and capture funds from the user's credit card.

Stripe Connect Gateway Setup (Organization - Recommended)
To get started with connecting your Stripe account to your organization:
- Login at https://controller.mybrightsites.com and then click into Stripe Connect.
- Here you would click the button labelled Connect Stripe Account.
- In the pop-up/dialog window, input the Account Name (this will help you identify it when adding this to a store), and click Continue. Once you hit Continue, you'll be taken through the Stripe Connect setup and you can either login with an existing Stripe account, or sign-up for a new one.
Once the account is connected, the Status will say Connected in green. If you see that the connection is Incomplete, click edit (1) to go back through your Stripe connect setup and verify the data. You can otherwise click the red trashcan icon (2) to delete the Stripe Connect account out*, or turn it off by toggling Active to off (3).
*Please note, deleting a Stripe account connected to a store will impact any current orders that were placed out as well as authorizations sent to that Stripe account. You will need to process any pending transactions in Stripe directly. You cannot reconnect the created sub account again, and deleting the Stripe account simply removes it from our system.
To set this up in a specific store, you would then:
- Go to your Sites tab, and click go () to go into a store's admin area.
- Next, after you have activated the gateway under Features , click to expand Payments and click into Payment Gateway.
- Under Setup, turn ON Enable Payment Gateway and select Stripe Connect from the list of options.
- Click Save when finished.
- Next, select Stripe Connect from the list to go in and select the Stripe account to use.
- Once selected, click the radio button for the Stripe account you would like to use.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
You can otherwise control the following settings in this tab:
- Connect Stripe Account: This allows you to connect a new Stripe account for use under a specific store. We only recommend doing this if you need to use a different Stripe account than the ones setup under your Organization. Keep in mind, going through the connection process at the store level will result in multiple "sub-accounts" created in Stripe. For any store level Stripe accounts connected, you will see an edit () and delete* () to manage accounts setup at the store level.

You will need to process any pending transactions in Stripe directly. You cannot reconnect the created sub account again, and deleting the Stripe account simply removes it from our system. - Custom Currency Code: This allows you to send a different currency code to Stripe when they receive payments. For example, if you have a Canadian Stripe account, and want transactions sent over to your account in CAD, you'll turn this toggle on, and select "CAD" from the drop-down list.
- Authorize Funds Only: This configures it so the transaction is Authorized, but not automatically captured. If this setting is enabled, you will need to either Capture the funds under your Orders listing OR from your Stripe account itself.
Stripe Connect Gateway Setup (Store Level)

Notes about Stripe Connect Gateway
- We recommend setting up your Stripe account under your organization and THEN select it at the store level. If you set up your Stripe account under each store separately, this will result in numerous sub-accounts within Stripe.
- If you see a message indicating that the connection is "Incomplete", please hit Edit () to go into Stripe to verify your account data. One thing to note is that it may take time for Stripe to verify your account before it’s ready for use. Once the account is connected however, this message will disappear.
