How to Configure Settings on the Checkout Options page.

To see if this is covered in your store level, click here.

This tutorial will guide you through the new options available under the “checkout options” tab in the “Features” section of the store. These new options will allow you to customize your store to your client’s needs and gives the store more flexibility with how the checkout page appears.

*Keep in mind that SOME of the options on this page will affect the design of your store so if your store was made PRIOR TO 4/19/2017, you will need to reach out to storeart@brightstores.com for assistance with updating your theme to support some of these options.*

To access the “checkout options” tab to make changes, login to the admin area of the store and select “checkout options” under the advanced store column.

This new page has options for the following:

  • Starting Order number.
  • A switch to hide the shipping address selection.
  • A switch to hide  the shipping method selection.
  • A switch to hide the billing address input.
  • A switch to hide the coupon field, the gift certificate field and the account balance option.
  • A switch to turn on “No payment required” for orders in your store.

Starting Order Number

The “starting order number” field allows you to enter in information for what number you would like orders placed in your store to start on. If you change this number after orders have been placed in your store, then the first order placed after that change will have the new starting order number. You will also want to keep in mind that if your store has orders already, the order number you change it to will need to be higher than the order number on the most recent order your store has received.

Show shipping address selection

The switch to “show shipping address selection” allows you to control whether or not you want the user to have the ability to enter a shipping address at checkout. Keep in mind this is for the full store and not just a specific group. When this is turned off, you will be presented with fields where you can input a shipping address which will be used for all orders. If you choose to do this, and you’re using integrated shipping in your store, unless you have a valid shipping address entered in that section, the shipping integration may fail and rates may not be generated if the address entered is invalid. After entering the address you want used for ALL orders in the store, select “save changes.”

Here is how this looks on the storefront:

Show shipping method selection.

The switch to “show shipping method selection” will hide this part of checkout and for every order in your store, the “No Shipping Method” option will be applied to them. If activated, this section of checkout will be skipped.

Here is how it looks on the storefront:

Show billing address selection.

The switch to “show billing address selection” will hide the billing address fields and whatever is set up in the admin area in those corresponding fields will be what is used on orders placed in your store. Keep in mind that if you are hiding this, payments placed via credit card or ACH may fail if the billing address entered in the admin area, doesn’t match the billing address registered for the account holder making the credit card or ACH transaction. After entering the address you want used for ALL orders in the store, select “save changes.”

Here is what this would like on the storefront:

Show coupon field, show gift certificate field, and show account balance option.

The next three switches - “show coupon field”, “show gift certificate field”, and “show account balance option” - control whether or not those corresponding fields are available to the user at checkout.

Here is what this would look like on the storefront:

No Payment required.

Lastly, the switch for “no payment required” will disable all payment methods set up within the store and orders placed will have “no payment required” applied as the payment method.

Here is what this would look like on the storefront:

This what the order will display when this payment method is used (you can see this information by selecting the “Orders” button, and then select the “edit” button on an order you would like to view, and then select the “payments” tab).
